Final Week of 2021 (11/15 - 11/21): 57 Collegians on Tour

 This week on tour:

  • 5 US events (4 ITF, 1 ATP Challenger)
  • 57 collegians in main draw action

This is the final week of professional tennis in the US this year. To cap off 2021, there are 5 events in the US.:
  • M15 East Lansing, MI
  • M25 Columbus, OH
  • M25 Austin, TX
  • ATP Challenger Champaign, IL
  • W25 Naples, FL
This is tied for the most ITF/Challenger events the US has had in a single week this fall but it's most collegians in action!

Please reach out on Twitter (@JTweetsTennis) if I’ve missed anyone or if you have feedback on how these lists are structured.

Notable:

  • 9 of Ohio State's 11 rostered players are competing in the singles main draw. The previous record for most players in a main draw was 6 (Oklahoma women, Texas Tech and Illinois men)

  • Wildcard generosity: only 1 of 3 wildcards in Austin went to a Texas player and only 2 of 4 in East Lansing went to a Michigan State player. The Buckeyes weren’t so generous: 3 of the 4 wildcards in Columbus went to Ohio State players.

  • Ben Shelton qualified and made his first main draw of an ATP Challenger event -- this is the same site where he won his first pro title in July

  • Eliot Spizzirri of Texas is playing in his first singles match since the US Open qualifying

  • There 21 men collegians competing at the Columbus M25 - the most of any pro men's even since the beginning of September
