ITA Kickoff Weekend Preview and Predictions

Not 1, not 2, but 120 matches of the week! This weekend marks the ceremonial start of the college tennis season as 60 men’s teams and 60’s women’s teams compete around the country for one of 15 spots at the ITA National Indoors. I’ll break down the men are women by highlighting: Most Interesting Region Locks to Advance Hosts on Upset Alert Best of the Rest Predictions! Matches of the Week - Week #2

We’re back for a second round of Matches of the Week! The first addition was pretty successful as I pre dicted both Florida (def. Texas) and Oklahoma (def. Princeton) would win. I was slightly off on scorelines; both w ere 4-3 but hey, a win’s a win right? As always, let me know your thoughts @JTweetsTennis. Men:  #10 Wake Forest at #1 Tennessee  Time: Tuesday, January 25th at 1pm ET Overview Tennessee is coming off a very impressive away victory against then #5 TCU and is now the #1 team in the country. The Vols rolled into Fort Worth and faced a TCU team that was high on confidence as the Horned Frogs had upset #1 Florida two days prior. Even after they dropped the doubles point – something foreign to Tennessee – the Vols found four singles points throughout the lineup despite not having expected starters Martim Prata and Blaise Bicknell. Tennessee will now take on an untested Wake Forest team in Knoxville. Wake Forest has used double headers early in the season to get playing time f

Welcome to a new series aptly named “Matches of the Week”! Very creative, I know. This dual match season, I’ll write each week about two upcoming matches I’m particularly excited about or intrigued by and make some predictions. Men:  #1 Florida at #3 Texas  Time: Sunday, January 16th at 12pm CT Overview We kick off the dual match season with a bang: a rematch of the 2021 NCAA semifinal. This is the third straight year Florida and Texas will face off in January. Texas is 2-0 in those two prior matches but maybe the third time’s the charm for the defending national champions? This is the highest-ranked matchup of the weekend with Florida ranked #1 and Texas at #3 as voted by the coaches. 3 key questions 1. Who’s healthy?
